Robert Davis III, PGA of America Master Professional

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is centered on one outcome: developing players who can perform at a high level when it matters most.

While many approaches focus solely on swing mechanics, my work is built on a more complete model of player development—one that integrates technical precision, structured progression, and competitive performance.

At the foundation of my coaching is the belief that consistency begins before the swing. Grip, alignment, and setup are the non-negotiables that allow the golf swing to function efficiently under pressure. When these fundamentals are stable, players gain control, eliminate unnecessary variables, and create a repeatable motion they can trust in competition.

From there, development must be intentional.

I utilize a structured, long-term approach that guides players through clearly defined stages—building from foundational skill to advanced performance. Each phase is designed to produce measurable progress, ensuring that improvement is not left to chance, but driven by purpose and accountability.

However, technical skill alone does not produce elite players.

The ability to compete—manage pressure, commit to decisions, and execute under tournament conditions—is what separates high-level players from the rest. My coaching emphasizes performance training as a core component, preparing players to transfer their skills from the practice environment to competition.

Every player I work with is coached as an individual. While the principles remain consistent, the application is tailored—balancing proven fundamentals with each player’s natural tendencies, strengths, and competitive goals.

My standard is simple: develop players who are technically sound, mentally prepared, and competitively ready.

Because at the highest levels of the game, success is not defined by how well you swing—it’s defined by how well you perform.
